This course will provide the basic requirements of how to properly install a complete lightning protection system including the requirements of the nationally recognized standards for lightning protection NFPA 780.
This presentation provides an overview of electrical grounding and bonding and the role it plays as the foundation to any electrical protection and power quality scheme. Relevant codes, standards and practices, as well as the elements of a properly designed grounding system will be reviewed. The purpose and means for equipment and system grounding will be presented. The hazards of step and touch potentials will be discussed and how they are eliminated as a threat to personal safety. Soil and ground system testing will be discussed and their importance to system design. Finally grounding and bonding for lightning protection, computers installations and telecommunications will be reviewed.
The purpose of this presentation is to define the components of a High Frequency Ground System, to identify the components used and to provide a better understanding of the need for High Frequency Grounds. What is a High Frequency Ground and why do you need one? What are the Components Used? The different types of SRG and their costs are reviewed. A summary of installation practices is presented.
